TOUR PERU 13 DAYS / 12 NIGHTS
Day 1: LIMA – PUERTO MALDONADO
Pick up from your hotel in Lima to take you to the airport and take the flight to the biological capital of Peru: Puerto Maldonado. Our adventure begins in puerto Maldonado town . We drive to the Port Capitania , where we board a boat that will take us along the Madre de Dios River. During this trip we will see animals like capybaras, caimans, turtles, among others.
We arrive at our first Lodge, where we enjoy an exclusive welcome drink and then move to our bungalows and have lunch. In the afternoon, our expert guide will take you to a very special place in the heart of the Madre de Dios River: Monkey Island, located 5 minutes from our Lodge. Throughout the trip you will enjoy an extraordinary landscape with lush flora and fauna. You will see different types of animals such as spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, tamarins and others like puffins, coatis and a variety of birds. Explore the island and enjoy the sunset, this is probably one of the most impressive moments of the trip. Back at the lodge enjoy a nice dinner.
DAY 2: PUERTO MALDONADO – COCHA PERDIDA
After breakfast we start our adventure through the virgin forest accompanied by a local guide. We arrive at Lost Lake, shelter and ecosystem of a wide variety of animals. You’ll see otters, alligators, turtles, tapirs, colorful birds, the majestic jaguar and a variety of fish. This area is unique is its kind because it remains intact with many marshes and natural springs. Climb to extraordinary (Mirador Amazon), from where you can watch the magic of the jungle, to continue with a pleasant canoe trip around the lake. We return to the lodge for lunch. We offer an optional visit to the botanical garden in the afternoon. If you prefer to relax, you can stay at the lodge and enjoy the Amazonian Pool. In the evening we will have dinner.
Day 3: Puerto Maldonado – GAMITANA RIVER – BRIOLO
After breakfast, we will start another excursion through the jungle, navigating along the Madre de Dios River. Then we start walking towards the Gamitana / Briolo River, which originates deep in the jungle. Its impressive curves form long channels that are navigable by canoe. On the way you may see alligators, birds and a variety of insects. You can fish and even swim in the river. Later, we return to the lodge for dinner.
DAY 4: PUERTO MALDONADO – CUSCO: CITY TOUR
Then we will take our flight to Cusco – the ancient capital of the Inca empire located 3,350 m / 11,300 ft above sea level. After a short break to help you adjust to the altitude, a bus will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the top of Cusco. We will use the B.T.G. (General Tourist Ticket) to see old temples and buildings both pre-Inca and Inca Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. The tour will take us back to the city where we will visit the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun and the Cathedral, located in the Plaza de Armas. Then you have time to explore Cusco on your own. Plenty to do and see in this cosmopolitan city: buildings and historic streets, shops, traditional markets and many museums. We recommend heading out to enjoy the colorful nightlife of Cusco. Here you will find everything: good restaurants, bars and pubs, discos, etc. – Ask about the best places that Cusco has to offer.
DAY 5: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY – AGUAS CALIENTES
Today we travel to the Sacred Valley where the Incas built cities like Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
Which achieved high levels of development. Enjoy an impressive Andean landscape during our tour in Piscac, then drive to Urubamba, where we will have lunch. Also visit Ollantaytambo. In the afternoon we take the train to Aguas Calientes, after an hour and 30 minutes we arrive to Aguas Calientes, where we will sleep.
Day 6: MACHU PICCHU-CUSCO
Early in the morning we take the bus to Machu Picchu (30 min), where we will have a guided tour of about 2 hours. You will see the Sun Temple, the Temple of the Condor, the Temple of Three Windows, Andean terraces and many other interesting places. Have time to walk around the archaeological complex, take amazing pictures, feel and appreciate the good energy and peace of this holy place. That afternoon we board our train back to Ollantaytambo, where we will bring back to Cusco by bus, arriving at 22:00 PM.
Day 7: FREE DAY CUSCO –AREQUIPA
Today you can explore the city on their own. Plenty to do in Cusco, because the B.T.G. we bought for the City Tour and the Sacred Valley includes admission to 14 different attractions including museums, a show of traditional dances and other ruins. We also offer exciting tours of 1 day Horseback riding, River Rafting, Mountain Biking, Canopy Zipping or any other trek around Cusco. Just let us know what you need, and we’ll do the rest. That night we take the bus to take us to Arequipa, arriving at 7:00 am.
DAY 8 – AREQUIPA CITY TOUR
We will have the transfer to the hotel and, after a break, explore the colonial city of Arequipa, built with white volcanic stone blocks; hence the name “White City”. The Plaza de Armas the traditional district of Cayma is panoramically tour, then drive to the viewpoint of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara, as well. And
a zoo, where we see the 4 varieties of camelids, know the artificial lakes of Tingo, Sachaca and taking the road then will enter into the mansion of the Founder (colonial house that preserves ornaments of colonial and republican origin), then the mill of Sabandía, built that dates
from the XVI century, cross Paucarpata district with its beautiful pre-Inca terraces, and return to the city optionally have the opportunity to finish the tour in a Arequipa Traditional restaurant and enjoy a fine dining .
DAY 9 – AREQUIPA – CHIVAY
Today we travel through the Andes, surrounded by beautiful mountains and lakes, to the village of Chivay, located close to the Colca Canyon. We can see vicunas, llamas, alpacas, guanacos and different types of birds such as flamingos. We arrive at Chivay at 1 pm and spend the night here.
DAY 10 – CHIVAY-COLCA NANYON – AREQUIPA
Early in the morning we take a bus to the Colca Canyon. On the way we can apreciate Inca and pre-Inca tombs, ceremonial centers. After two hours we reach the Cruz del Condor, where we expect to see the sacred bird of the Andes, the majestic Condor. We visit small towns and see the local traditions in the return to Chivay. We initiate the return to Arequipa from Chivay, at 13:30 arriving at 4:30 pm to arequipa to enjoy the last night.
DAY 11: AREQUIPA – PUNO
Today we travel to Lake Titicaca. We leave Arequipa to go to Puno, where we will check into our hotel to rest.
DAY 12: UROS – TAQUILE
This morning, after a journey of 30 minutes, we arrive at the port of Puno, where we take a boat to start a 20 minute trip to the floating islands of Uros, made entirely of reeds. Uros community has prevailed for hundreds of years thanks to the continuous renewal of the soil of the island with fiber reeds and mud. After exploring the island of Uros, we will get into our boat to begin the journey to the island of Taquile by 3 hours. Taquile is an island covered with terraces of manufacturing pre-Inca and Inca. We visit some local families and have a traditional meal with them. We will have extra time to explore the island on our own. In the afternoon we take our boat back to Puno.
DAY 13: TRANSFER OUT
You can continue your journey from Puno to any part of Peru or South America. If you want to spend another night in Puno and needs a hostel / hotel, bus ticket (return to Cuzco or Bolivia, for example), a transfer from your hotel to Juliaca (next airport) or the bus terminal in Puno or other services, just let us know and we will do the rest.
